Johnny Depp steps out in a new role as a rare book expert preying on the loss and misfortune of others. It’s a long way from his more known characters, but his performance is excellent in this dark and somewhat comical exploration of secret societies and the quest to …

I first saw this title on my T.V. guide as I was scrolling to search for programs to record on my Rogers PVR.
From Prada to Nada sounded like a catchy name for a film and it caught my attention when I looked at the info on the movie. …

This is not your ordinary horror film. Based on some pretty heavy Biblical references, if you are not into supernatural themes, you will get really bored with this one. That being said, Hilary Swank gives a believable performance in this thriller. This isn’t the type of …

As time goes by and the inevitable process of growing up takes its course, certain things that I used to love back when I was smaller seem quite stupid now, especially some of the things I enjoyed like movies and television shows. The acting seems really bad, along with …

This movie is kitty litter. The plot is stupid and outrageous, and the only thing you get out of this film is a movie where you laugh at the stupid people who wasted their lives in the filming of this movie. This movie has probably only gotten views by …

I was a little apprehensive about seeing this movie because there are just so many slasher films out there where the “teen/college” kids get offed one by one. The difference that sets this film apart is the fact that the filming and action seem more realistic than …

If you really want your children to enjoy watching a good fantasy movie, than I recommand “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. This movie has the right ingredients to ensure that every child will enjoy watching it.

Vantage Point is a movie that I had watched a few weeks back which I think had no plot whatsoever. Indeed if you see the title, it is sort of misleading and you would think that it is a boring movie. But it turned out to be a …

Steel Magnolias showcases the talents of Shirley MacLaine (Ouiser), Sally Field (M’Lynn), Dolly Parton (Truvy), Julia Roberts (Shelby), Olympia Dukakis (Clairee) and Daryl Hannah (Annelle). With a cast like that, how can you go …

There is nothing left of the romantic comedy genre. It’s been on the decline for at least the past decade, with the odd exception that actually mixes the pathos and exhilaration of love lost and found with comedic coincidence and the kind of zany antics that for the most …

Trust me if I say this: I have never seen a film with intertwining characters as honest and coincidental as this. All because of Alejandro Gonzales Inaritu’s compelling writing and masterful directing that we were able to see four stories, in three countries interweave each other in the most …

I find The Shining to be a completely stunning film, partly down to the transfixing performance of Jack Nicholson and partly down to the direction of Stanley Kubrick. It is based on Stephen King’s book of the same name but Kubrick has given the story an ambiguity that …

Unlike recent years, animated movies really dove down in quality. The Emoji Movie is considered as one of the worst movies ever made; The Lego Ninjago’s critical acclaim failed to match its predecessors’ wit; and then we have Despicable Me 3 and The Boss Baby. We did have The Lego …

I think Suspiria is probably one of the scariest. If not the scariest movie ever made. This movie is old from the year 1977. But I still enjoy it. In fact I think older movies like Suspiria are the best kind of movies. I just loved the spooky music …

I got around to finally watching the remake of the 1981 movie “My Bloody Valentine.”
I normally like slasher flicks and, because of the nature of the movie, give them a little more in terms of consideration when it comes to the plot. But, this movie wasn’t very good.
You have …

‘Gone Girl’ (mystery thriller) is a refreshing dose of mystery that doesn’t follow the same path that many mysteries have taken before. It’s a movie that deals with the unexpected and is just as good as the book it was based on (Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn). I couldn’t understand …

The storyline …

This is a very light romantic comedy, with a plot so simple, silly, and predictable that I think it would have completely fallen through if it wasn’t for Michael Caine and Maggie Smith, the two wonderful actors who save it.
