The complete third season of Beast Wars: Transformers on DVD is a letdown. It’s not the fault of the picture or sound quality on the DVD set, although the amount of “extras” is very disappointing, but it’s the episodes that are the real problem.

Unlike season two, the scripts this time around are pretty shallow much of the time and the show is a lot less

      dark and serious.

While season two had several two part stories and even a grand three part season finale, this season pretty much goes from standalone episode to standalone episode, and that’s a real step back from what season two offered.

Another problem with this season is the way the story arcs from the previous seasons were handled.

They are all hastily wrapped up and the ...

      • result is very unsatisfying.

It’s like the writers suddenly realized that is was time to end the series and they scrambled to put together some closure.

The result is two abducted characters from season two returning near the end of season three only to be killed off an episode and a half later! Another character receives a new transmetal two form only to never be seen

again since the series was to end five episodes later.

Story lines were wasted on pointless episodes light-hearted episodes and there’s very few decent battles.

Overall, season three of Beast Wars is very poor compared to seasons one and two.

There are a few good episodes near the beginning, middle, and end of the season, but there’s also a lot of boring, wasted potential to be overlooked.
