Dakota Fanning is one of the best young actors today, and I just fall in love with her over and over again when I watch her movies. One of the best ones I have seen her in is “Hide and Seek,” which also stars Robert De Niro. This film …

I have seen the most recent version of the movie Hairspray and I absolutely loved it. So, I decided to take the time to watch a slightly older version, the 1988 version that starred Ricki Lake in the lead role.
OK, the movie is essentially the same as the remake …

Relative newcomer Rooney Mara perfectly inhabits the role of Lisabeth Salander, the namesake character in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” David Fincher’s adaptation of the wildly popular novel and 2009 Swedish movie is a wonderfully-cast atmospheric crime drama that will make even the bold squeamish.
I’m very glad Fincher …

We went to see the movie Flushed Away this past weekend. There were two adults and a 12 year old boy. I went in with the intention of seeing a comedy, not knowing it was more of an adventure movie. It was a nice family film with a few …

I just watched the movie “The Unsual Suspects” last week on a bootleg DVD someone had of it, so I’m not completely sure what quality the actual DVD would be. I heard a lot of good things about this movie before I actually got to watch it, one of …

When this thing came out in the late 1980’s, it was slammed so roundly by a mass group of film critics that I didn’t even bother to go see it. I did, however, decide to “treat” myself to a cable television presentation of it not long ago …

For what it is, A Smoky Mountain Christmas is a decent holiday movie. Dolly Parton stars as a successful country singer (not a big stretch here) who takes off for the mountains for some peace and relaxation.
In the smoky mountains, Lorna Davis (Parton) discovers a group of children …

In the movie story, Serendipity, I think the collaboration of John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale truly rock!
They are both extremely suited for each other in this movie and their characters together had a great amount of chemistry. You just have to see this movie to know what …

The Number 23 is a movie starring Jim Carrey. Carrey plays a serious role in the movie. He has really managed to make the transition from comedic actor to serious actor. He is very good in the role of Walter Sparrow, an ordinary man who becomes obsessed with the …

Where to start talking about this musical film, Frankie and Johnny? It’s a 1966 release that has a lot of singing Elvis Presley and, of all persons, Donna Douglas as his co-star. Douglas is best known as Elly May Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies. While I …

Getting another free movie pass enables me to watch Dragonball Evolution. Anticipating the movie to surpass every expectation that I have and wishing for it to be good. And this is what I have to say. Goku, the hero that we all love is a mediocre. …

A Christmas Carol, 1999, starring Patrick Stewart, has left me disappointed. I love the story, and I thought Stewart could make a good Scrooge, but his performance had not touched me at all. The movie followed the book closely enough. Scrooge, a lonely, hard-hearted businessman, hates Christmas because he …

After enjoying the prequel “Pitch Perfect”, I found that I was interested in watching the sequel “Pitch Perfect 2″. I imagined that it would be just as funny and entertaining as the first even though I know that a lot of sequels tend to flop.
Well, after I watched it I …

The movie had a plot that …

I caught the tail end of this movie once on Comedy Central. I came in to see the main character in what I could’ve sworn was a Bennigan’s, but really turns out to be a generic bar, working to finish a novel that was due within the day. …

Marooned isn’t a big favorite of mine, but there’s something about it that when I start watching it, it’s hard to turn off. I normally love space-age movies, but sometimes they seem a bit off. While that’s the case here, the acting in some cases is so …

Milos Forman’s powerful film about the legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It’s a very colorful and moving portrait, narrated through the eyes of one of Mozart’s competitors during this time, who was only mediocre in comparison. Forman uses an epic style to tell this story, and that works very …

The film experience of Skyfall, I think is totally vigorous; and energizing for the audience member. It was for me: that is certain. I believe: Daniel Craig in the role of Bond is a Bond character that continues to grow on you–for certain. At first …

Transformers. Once again the world of comic books strikes it big in the box office. Transformers has been popular since it’s debut early in July. For the most part I enjoyed the film. The special effects are to be commended. Shia LeBouf does a great job as the boy-next-door …

For me, finding a good comedy is kind of like walking through a mine field. I’m not guaranteed of getting across in finding a great, hilarious movie and I am more than likely to step on a mine and hit some very unfunny, poorly-written duds. That is why I …

“The Good Shepherd” is a sobering and rather depressing depiction of the early days of the secret government agency that eventually became the CIA. Matt Damon plays the role of Edward Wilson, a very morose young man with an idealistic desire to serve his country. He gets …

Doctor Dolittle is a delightful musical that has stood up through the test of time as an entertaining film. Oddly, when released in 1967, it didn’t do well. Musicals were sadly on their way out, and Doctor Dolittle was one of the victims. However, it’s become …
