Street Hawk is a series that focuses on an all terrain attack vehicle; in other words, a super motorcycle that makes fighting crime a whole lot easier. Of course, there has to be someone to ride the bike, and that would be Jesse Mach, played by Rex Smith, who wasn’t taken all that seriously on the small screen but who has done well in theater.

Murder Is a Novel Idea is the tenth episode of the series

and has a nice supporting cast headed by Belinda Montgomery, one of the most visible actresses on television in the 80’s. Here she plays Stephanie Craig, an old friend of Jesse’s who is a novelist. She’s creating a stir with her new book that draws attention to an unsolved crime. In fact, she claims she knows the identify of the murder and that the person is dead. If that’s the case, then why ...

      • is her home vandalized? That’s the question.

Joe Regalbuto is quite cute in his Norman Tuttle role. He has a crush on Stephanie and it’s very endearing. I normally don’t ever think of Regalbuto is a cute, sweet little guy, but he comes off that way here when meeting the woman.

It was a kick seeing Steve Edwards playing a TV show host in this episode. Edwards was a media journalist of the era

and actually ended up doing a lot of television as an actor, though often in roles like this one where you could say he was just playing himself.

It had the usual action sequences, a little bit of romance, and some whimsy with the Stephanie character. My favorite line was at the end, when the crime is solved, and she reveals that in her next book, she planned to reveal the identity of Street Hawk. Cute.
