As a Valentine’s Day gift this past weekend, I purchased the Dr. Seuss book The Lorax for my daughter.

She has an animated film based on this book, which she has watched a couple times.

But, this is the first time she has read the book.

      And, I took the

time to read it with her a couple nights after buying it; as a bedtime story.

It’s a long book (I actually had to read it over two bedtimes rather than just one).

      But, a good one.

In essence, it is a book that gives kids an early lesson in ...

      • protecting the environment without over preaching the message.

It tells the story of a man who builds a factory and starts cutting down trees, only to have the Lorax stop by every so often to point out the damage that is being done and ultimately leaves when all the trees

are gone, the factory can no longer function and the area has been destroyed.

Quite honestly, I think this book is quietly one of Dr.

        Seuss’ best.

And, I never even knew it existed until quite recently.

If you have kids, I think this is a book that is worth buying for them and reading to them.
