      dasara is a nine day festival called nadahabba in mysore, karnataka, india. it comes in the month of october every year. at this time mysore city is decorated with full of colourful lights.

      the tourist places in mysore like the mysore palace, curzon park, jaganmohan palace, chamundi hills, lalith mahal, the temples and parks of the whole city are very


      nicely decorated with colourful flowers and lights. a lot of foreigners come to mysore to see dasara.

      during dasara festival, the hindus worship goddess chamundeshwari in her different forms. the dasara festival is inaguarated by offering prayers to the goddess at the chamundi hills.

        several cultural programmes like music and dance by famous personalities are held at palace premesis and other places in the city. the dasara film festival is also held.

        on the ninth day the famous dasara procession takes off from the palace and goes in city streets, which ends at

        bannimantap. it is inaugarated by the chief minister of the state.

        it includes several decorated elephants, horses, tableaus, dance troups. the main attraction of the procession is the golden howdah weighing 850 kgs.

        which is mounted on the elephant in which the idol of goddess chamundeshwari is kept. so mysore dasara is one of the most grandeous and colourful festival of india.
