  • I love the first scene of Have Gun - Will Travel
  • Roberts is not my favorite person in the world, and I think he had an ego that hampered him, but he was a good actor, and that's evident even in this short TV show

I love the first scene of Have Gun - Will Travel: Hey Boy’s Revenge. Paladin (Richard Boone) returns to the Hotel Carlton in San Francisco and discovers some changes have taken place. Among them is a new desk clerk, played perfectly by Olan Soule. It’s quite a fun scene, not that it

was funny, but in how Paladin got to the crux of the situation with the clerk. When Paladin learns is that Hey Boy has been fired for not showing up to work for a week.

Kam Tong, who plays Hey Boy, only occasionally gets to stand out in episodes of the series, and this ...

      • is one of them. It’s all about his family and the death of his brother while working on building railroad tracks.

Pernell Roberts of Bonanza fame plays Maury Travis, who runs the building of the railroad like a slavery camp. Roberts is not my favorite person in the world, and I think he

had an ego that hampered him, but he was a good actor, and that’s evident even in this short TV show.

There’s also a lovely scene at the end with Hey Boy, his sister, and Paladin. It’s sweet and endearing.

I like this show. The drama is there, but it’s the heart that makes it matter.
