Brisco and Lord Bowler go to Brisco’s hometown where Brisco ends up becoming the temporary sheriff in The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.: Showdown. This show was somewhat nice, giving us another glimpse into the past of the colorful Brisco. There were some definite highlights that make this show worth watching.

For one thing, there is an incredibly hysterical moment when Brisco stops two men from racing their horses down through the middle of town.

He tells them to get off their horses, asks them if they’ve been drinking, tells them to move away from their horses, and then gives them a sobriety test. It is too funny and one of the best comical bits in all of the shows thus far.

For another thing, guest star Jessica Tuck is feisty and fun in her role as Annie Cavendish. Apparently, she and Brisco were quite the pair growing up ...

      • and through high school. She’s straightforward, skilled, and intriguing to watch.

Also for consideration, there is a terrific skinny dipping love scene with Brisco and Annie that was actually very nice to watch. It was different, full of wonder in a way as two once playful kids reunited as confident adults. I liked it very much.

I have to mention the bad pun of the show. Puns are something they delight in and this

time, it was Brisco stating, “Annie, get your gun.” It makes you both cringe and chuckle at the same time.

So, this was a very good show. The drama of the main story was average, but the performances of Tuck and John P. Ryan as Sheriff Bob Cavendish were great. The B-story of the romance between Brisco and Annie was exciting. It’s too bad they didn’t do something more with this as the show went forward.
