      There are a lot of pizza takeout places that vary in quality and prices, the most commercial being Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars and Papa John’s. Virtually every American has had the experience of eating from all four and I am one of them. Recently, I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ chicken pizza for the first time and am pleased to report that the quality matches up to its price.

      First of all, the crust is something


      to talk about. Some places try to mask the poor quality of their crust by saturating it with a lot of oil and garlic. What you end up with is a dense crust, greasy fingers, and a garlic mouth strong enough to repel your own dog. That’s not the case here. It had all the signs of a well-risen dough – crunchy crust, slightly chewy, light, and well-rounded flavor. More importantly, this crust had ...

        Next, the toppings. Some places use the word “fully loaded” pretty loosely but not Papa John’s. They really didn’t skimp on the amount of chicken, onions, or bacon. Almost every bite contained all three. The BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy; it helped cut through the heaviness of the toppings and cheese.

        My only complaint is the quality of the pizza

        isn’t the same the next day because they put the cheese on top of the toppings instead of the other way around. This can make the crust slight soggy if the toppings have a lot of water. Aside from that, who doesn’t like pizza in the morning?
