Anne of Green Gables is a bestselling novel, the first in the series about Anne Shirley. It is written by the Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery and is based partly on her childhood life in Prince Edward Island. Anne Shirley, the books main character, is sent to the farm of two middle-aged siblings, Marilla and Matthew.
