The London Eye is one of the newer attractions in London. It is a big Ferris wheel just by the Thames, and is hugely popular both in real life and as an easy to spot landmark in films.

It was erected in 1999 and has since then become the

most visited paid for tourist attraction in Britain.

It is quite expensive but if the weather is good, it is definitely worth it.

As there’s often a large queue waiting to get up, you should book a ticket in advance.

We had our tickets and just walked past the queue at the time we had booked for.

We had to wait some minutes for the right carriage, but no annoying wait in an endless line.

If you are really afraid of heights, then this is probably not the thing for you as the carriages have glass windows.

135 meters it is the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe.

The view is great though, even on a cloudy day you see a lot of the Thames, London and other tourist attraction.

The carriages are cleaned regularly, so you can get some good shots of London through the glass.

It moves quite slowly, we had lots of time to go from side to side and see everything from every possible angle.

It’s close to Big Ben and the Parliament, so getting there is easy.

It is within walking distance from both the Waterloo station and the Westminster station on the London underground.
