  • I guess they were trying to show that although Jackie didn’t think her husband was the best man on the world but she wanted Rose to think she was so she kept telling her great stories about him

In this episode Rose and the Doctor are not travelling in the future as we are used to see them travel but they go in the past. Rose’s dad died when she was still a baby and her mother kept telling her how great guy he was and how much she regrets nobody was there with him when he was hit by the drunk driver. So Rose asks The Doctor to take her back to the day he died and although she was just supposed to be with him when he dies she actually helps him and he avoids to be hit by the car at all.

She doesn’t tell him who she is but

he feels connected to her and he takes her to the wedding which he was supposed to attend with his mother. We find out that he wasn’t such a great man as her mother was telling her and that their relationship wasn’t all that great because during the whole episode her Mum, Jackie, continuously accuses him of cheating on her and of being good for nothing.

Anyway, the fact that Rose saved her Dad had a big impact on the universe and some kind of creatures who were supposed to set things right again arrived to the town and started taking away people until Rose’s dad realised that all was happening because of him so ...

      • he ran in front of the running car and saved the planet. This was another episode of this show that I liked.

I didn’t like Jackie much because she was hysterical and kept yelling on her husband and fighting with him. I guess they were trying to show that although Jackie didn’t think her husband was the best man on the world but she wanted Rose to think she was so she kept telling her great stories about him.

Her dad, in the end, showed that he was a good man, a Dad every child could hope for. I liked the fact that there wasn’t much science fiction in this episode and that we finally

got to see where Rose’s father was.

I don’t know if it was ever said in the show before that he was dead and I must say that I wondered where he was. Except these creatures who were taking away people the episode was almost lacking the science fiction elements.

I must say that I’d prefer if Rose’s dad could have stayed alive but it was clear from the beginning that it was impossible. The episode was also very emotional and sentimental.

Rose finally gets to know her father and she gets to be with him when he died. The ending was so moving, Rose holding her father’s hand making her mother’s wish come true, her father didn’t die alone.
