Do you like dragons? If you answered no, then don’t read this review. If you answered yes, chances are you’ve already read this book, and if you haven’t, you’ll love it.

Summary: The lands of Alta and Tia are at war, and Joust tells the story of a young serf boy who plans to exact revenge on his enemies, the Tians.

      Luck brings him to

the heart of the Tian?s power, the training compound for the infamous Jousters and their dragons, where he discovers the secrets of dragon training that could mean victory for Alta if he can escape to tell them.

Like any Mercedes Lackey book, it’s well written and I simply could not put down the book.

If you?ve ever wanted to know how to train a dragon,

      • this book is for you! (Or, for those of you like me who WISH you could train dragons, this book is also amazing.

) I loved the contrast between the friendly dragons in this book and the wild, vengeful dragons in traditional fantasy stories.

After a while, you have to get tired of every hero slaying dragons.

Why not be friends with them instead?

        Only a

few things bothered me in this book (and even then, very minor things).

For one, I found at least two typos.

That should not happen in a published book.

Another one of my pet peeves is disgustingly sappy dialogue.

Luckily it only happened a few times, though better if she had not included it at all.

Overall, though, Joust is a very entertaining book.

Alta is the sequel to Joust.
