The breathtaking beauty of the islands of Puget Sound can be experienced in relaxing day trips on the Washington State Ferries crossing Puget Sound on regular schedules every day. Drive your car on and walk up to the upper decks where you can sit outside in the fresh salt air and

breeze (sometimes a good stiff wind) or inside with a cup of coffee in a comfortable booth by the big plate glass windows. Either way the view is magnificent no matter what the weather is like: muted grays and greens overlaid with mist on foggy, overcast days; brilliant blue skies, deep ...

      • green shorelines, and shimmering waves on sunny days. And try it at night under a full moon. Once on the islands you can explore for a while and then return on the same ferry, or drive to another location and take another ferry to another island. The Mulkiteo Ferry to
Kingston, and then the Kingston Ferry to Whidby Island and a drive up Whidby to Deception Pass makes a wonderful day trip. Or just walking on and taking the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and back again will blow the dull cobwebs away from an ordinary day in only an hour.
