  • The Bounty chocolate bar is absolute classic confectionary and I bought one recently for the first time in years - I have been concentrating on trying the newer bars I suppose
  • The coconut inside is just delicious and I cannot think of another chocolate bar that contains coconut, but it blends really well with the chocolate
  • I remember when I was a kid and I tasted real coconut from one that I had won at a fairground, I thought it was not half as nice as the coconut in Bounty bars
  • I love the way I can still be munching on little bits of coconut in my mouth after I have eaten it all

The Bounty chocolate bar is absolute classic confectionary and I bought one recently for the first time in years - I have been concentrating on trying the newer bars I suppose. These are manufactured by American company, Mars, although they are apparently not so widely available in the USA. Although I will be raving in this review about how nice these coconut chocolate bars are, I have just discovered from Wikipedia that they are not actually suitable for vegetarians. I also found

out that most of Mars products are not suitable for vegetarians as they contain animal rennet and I am sure that a lot of people are not aware of this. Apparently this was not the case before 2007 and a lot of vegetarians have complained to the company. Anyway, if that does not bother you, then read on.

Bounty bars consist of two separate, chunky little bars in a packet on a cardboard base. Each bar of a few inches long, consists of ...

      • moist coconut (plus various other ingredients, including that animal by-product - is that really necessary?) encased within milk chocolate. The chocolate is nice and thick and makes a satisfying cracking sound as I bite into it. The coconut inside is just delicious and I cannot think of another chocolate bar that contains coconut, but it blends really well with the chocolate. I remember when I was a kid and I tasted real coconut from one that I had won at a fairground,
I thought it was not half as nice as the coconut in Bounty bars. I love the way I can still be munching on little bits of coconut in my mouth after I have eaten it all. I find one of these bars quite filling but there is another one to go, waiting in the packet. These are good if you want to stave off your hunger pangs as they are quite satisfying.

In summary, a great coconut and chocolate bar, but not for vegetarians.
