The Geauga County Historical Society maintains a Century Village for us all to see how our forefathers lived in the 1800’s. I love going here! There’s 60 acres of history, and it’s just like stepping backwards in time!

Among the many buildings and artifacts you will find there, they have

a church that was built in 1846, an 1872 one room school-house, an authentic log cabin, a blacksmith’s shop, a Victorian dressmakers shop, a railroad station, and much, much, more.

Their Crossroads Country Store has a potbelly stove, a cracker barrel, and real penny candy for the kids to enjoy.

      I could ...

      • spend all day roaming around there; so much to see and do!

They hold many special events throughout the year.

Some of them are: May flea market, June’s butter churn festival, July’s muzzle loading shoots, September’s rug and crafts show, and October’s apple butter festival.

        These are just a few

of the special events I particularly like, but there’s many more.

Special events usually only take place on weekends, but Century Village is open to the public daily, Tuesdays through Sundays, from May 1st through October 31st.

It’s a great place to take the family so they can see how hard our ancestors had to live.
