I love the times I get to go to the Old Tavern! Their food is supurb and the flavor of history is everywhere! The atmosphere cannot be beat!

Old Tavern is deep with history. It started off in 1798 as a 12 by 15 foot log cabin on the trail used by

covered wagons crossing this part of the country.

As the numbers of travelers increased, additions were needed and added on.

By the early 1800’s it was transformed into a salt-box style house.

Later they constructed a large ballroom.

At one time in history, it was an underground railroad station.

      The structure ...

      • still has many of the secret closets, and tunnels in the basement.

I don’t believe they let the public down to see the tunnels anymore, but I’ve often wanted to ask if it would be permissable.

I love the decor! The furnishings are mostly antiques, and they have beautiful collections of antique dinnerware.

I’ve always loved to see all their Victorian memorabilia.

Their genuine Tiffany lamps add charm to this fine restaurant.

They also have a wonderful gift shop, and the excellent, delicious, mouth-watering food they serve makes this a most memorable place to visit and enjoy a meal.

If you to, be sure to try some of their famous fritters!
