Whispering Waters Campground is actually the first place we camped after we bought our trailer many years ago. I have always liked camping, so after I was married, and our son turned 2 years old, we decided to purchase a trailer and go camping. After doing our research and talkig with friends, we chose Whispering Waters because we had heard good things about the campground. The first time we went there we went with some friends and relatives who had been there before and like it.

The Campground is located in Hastings, MI which is about 45 minutes south of where we live.

The park has many great features, including kayak and canoe rentals, which really appealed to us. Leash campsite has a picnic table and a firepit. There are some sites back in the woods, and some in open and sunny areas. When we made our reservation, we requested a sunny site. We were happy to discover when we got there that out site was a pull-through, meaning we didn’t have to back the trailer in, we could just drive it through which is much easier, not to mention less stressful.

The first thing my son noticed was the huge play area they ...

      • had. It was sort of down a large hill, so they had a slide built into the hill going down to the playground. The playground was large and there was a pavilion nearby with picnic tables, so the parents could watch their kids while they played.

The campground also has an outdoor pool, but it’s not heated and it was too cold to swim in when we went there in early summer. They also have new showers and bathrooms near the pool area. Another great feature is the camp store where you can buy camp supplies, candy, clothing, ice cream and more.

The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay.

Over the years, Whispering Waters has become a favorite place of ours to camp. Now we camp with other families and take canoe trips down the river. We will continue to camp there every summer, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice family campground. The price is reasonable for a private campground with ammenities such as full hook-up and a pool. You can still expect to pay about $38 per night, which is about average for that type of park. To us it’s worth the price.
