This city was build by the Romans. They gave it the Mosam at Trajectum cause this was the lowest point of the river where they could cross it without having the need for a bridge. Over the centuries Maastricht has seen many wars.

From the French to the Spanish and at last

of course the 2nd World War. The city got it’s city rights in the middle ages and a lot of the City walls you still can see.

In the city there are a lot of old buildings that are still standing after all these centuries. It is Breathtaking to see how well ...

      • preserved they are.

If you of to Maastricht make sure that you go to the Tourist office (VVV) and ask for city tours with a guide. You will be impressed by all the old architecture that still exists in this city.

The people are very friendly and helpful. Definitely look for a

guided tour of the Mergel Groeven and the Kazematten.

Those are both underground tunnel systems used in the wars that Maastricht has seen. Hotels are easily to find in Maastricht ranging from eur55 p.

        p. p.

        n. to eur195.

Traveling to Maastricht is the easiest way by using the train with hourly services to Amsterdam and Vice versa.
