Walt Disney Studios brought us Unidentified Flying Oddball in 1979. Since then, the movie has been re-released under the title of A Spaceman in King Arthur’s Court. The premise behind the movie is that an astronaut travels through time in his spacecraft and ends up back in the days of King Arthur’s Court.

might be the best thing about the movie. It’s not one of Disney’s finest by any means. It has humorous moments, but there isn’t any consistency to the fun. A lot of it is pure hokey.

Starring as Astronaut Tom Trimble is Dennis Dugan, who some might remember best as Richie Brockleman, a private investigator. Dugan did a few Disney movies and played a ...

      • lot of quirky characters, often the nice guy who is a bit of a doofus, or at least a nerdy type. He’s perfect for this role where his social skills are almost nil, but his scientific knowledge is top drawer.

In his last role, Kenneth More made a decent King Arthur, while Ron Moody was fine as Merlin. Also appearing was Jim Dale as Sir

Mordred and Sheila White as Alisande, who is ultimately the love interest.

My problem with this comedy is that the ending is incomplete. We are essentially told what is going to happen, but we don’t see it and I find that to be very unfulfilling.

Overall, this is an average goofball comedy that has a few chuckles along the way but is far from being one of Disney classics.
