Amongst my many gifts that I received for Christmas, I received several items from The Body Shop, as I do every year. Usually, the skin care and fragrance products are perfect, because I love everything this retailer sells. One of my stocking stuffers this year was Olive Body Butter, and while I have tried most of the brand’s body butters, and they are all great, this one is the best. I have found that all of the body butters from The Body Shop are all rich moisturizers, and vary only in a few ingredients and the scent. This one, which contains olive oil plus the

usual vitamin E, shea butter and aloe vera, seems to soothe and moisturize my skin better than the other body butters I have tried.

I unscrewed the jar of Olive Body Butter to smell it and check out the consistency. I have to say that the scent is extremely subtle, perhaps a bit of olive oil, but certainly nothing familiar. However, I don’t necessarily care about the fragrance of my skin moisturizer, as much as I care about how it makes my skin feel. In the winter, especially because I am living in a horrifically dry climate, my already dry skin gets flakey and even ...

      • itchy. I go through many skin lotions, creams and body butters all winter, trying to find ones that help. I tried the Olive Body Butter after my shower, applying to damp skin like I normally do. It went on my skin exactly like all of the body butters do, absorbing quickly, and leaving no grease. It does not feel heavy, like some do, and it felt nice right away. Of course, the real test is a few hours later, when I generally begin to get itchy, no matter what skin lotion I have used. This did not happen; in fact, I remained itch-free all day
and even into the night, not waking up scratching in the middle of the night, which is always what happens if I forget to put on some medicated skin product before bed. I was a bit surprised, because using a skin product once a day will certainly save money. This wasn’t a fluke, either, because I have been using this butter for 2 weeks, and it does last 24 hours. My skin feels great, and the flakiness is also gone.

For anyone with dry skin, I would recommend The Body Shop Olive Body Butter ($20 for 200ml). It really soothes and moisturizes, absorbs well and lasts a long time.
