Golden Leg was once one of the greatest Chinese soccer players, but after making a huge career mistake, he is left unable to play. When he meets a Shaolin kung fu student, Mighty Steel Leg Sing, attempting to spread the message of kung fu through different mediums, he sees the potential for a great soccer team. Mighty Steel Leg must convince his equally talented but disillusioned brothers to join the team.

All 6 brothers must come together in

order to become one of the greatest soccer teams. Golden Leg must turn this rag tag bunch of misfits into a fighting soccer force if he ever wants to regain his footing in the soccer world.

They assemble as Team Shaolin to enter into a prestigious tournament for the Super Cup, but they must first defeat Team Evil, run by Golden Leg’s previous rival, in order to win the title.

Shaolin Soccer is a great action comedy.

      It moves ...

      • the past kung fu action movies into modern territory. Stephen Chow’s acting as Mighty Steel Leg was very sincere and comical.

Funny enough, he does break into song a few times throughout the movie. Each of the 6 brothers and their special skills were all very comical.

I watched the English dub version, and the voices all had pretty hard accents. Some may find it difficult to understand, but I didn’t mind the voices.

        However,

some people may find the voices annoying, so they’ll have to switch to the original audio, but the subtitles are certainly helpful. Though the premise may seem a little silly, this movie is not just your regular martial arts action flick.

It parodies its own genre, and the audience has no choice but to laugh along. It’s a little different from your regular foreign action films but is definitely worth a try for those looking for a good laugh.
