  • I bought this wooden toy so they could keep their teeth trimmed down by chewing on it, but if they don't chew on it, well, it doesn't do their teeth any good

These are wooden toys made for small animal pets including rodents. They come in a variety of shapes including colorful fruits. Some of the toys have little wheels on them. The one I bought looks like a watermelon. It is made from two pieces of wood that form an “X” shape. The “X” shape creates four chewing surfaces. It’s small enough that most little animals could grip it easily or even climb on it. The watermelon is painted in bright

reds, greens and has little black seeds.

Truthfully, this is not a very good toy at all. My pets don’t even look at it and they certainly don’t chew on it like they are supposed to. I bought this wooden toy so they could keep their teeth trimmed down by chewing on it, but if they don’t chew on it, well, it doesn’t do their teeth any good. I have four rats and a large number of mice (seventeen at the ...

      • moment to be exact) and absolutely none of them have taken the slightest nibble. That really disappoints me.

After thinking about it, I have come to the conclusion that these toys are more geared towards humans than the animals. Animals don’t care about colorful designs or fancy fruit shapes or how a toy looks. Those are the kind of things humans like. We see the toy on the shelf and think “Oh, isn’t that cute!” and before we know it,

we are buying it. I know that’s what I did. I also liked that the package said “all natural” and that the colors used were pet safe. Animals look for something else in a toy and I guess the J.W. Pet Company does not understand that. That is really disappointing as now the toy I bought is only good for a knickknack or a paperweight.

I rate this toy a “2″ because it looks cute but it is not really useful as intended.
