  • Since I was never taught the correct way to care for overly oily skin, I just hid the blemishes and breakouts with my mom's incredibly thick pancake makeup which, it turned out, simply exasperated the problem even worse
  • I had hoped, that as I got older the blemishes would diminish or go away entirely and it was just something I'd grow out of, but unfortunately such was not the case
  • Since I love avon and have been ordering avon products on a regular basis for the past twenty years, I wanted to start giving their make-up line a try
  • If you don't have an issue with blemishes, but want to create a smoother texture and apperance of your coloring, than this would be fantastic for you

As a youth, I always had problem skin. Since I was never taught the correct way to care for overly oily skin, I just hid the blemishes and breakouts with my mom’s incredibly thick pancake makeup which, it turned out, simply exasperated the problem even worse. I had hoped, that as I got older the blemishes would diminish or go away entirely and it was just something I’d grow out of, but unfortunately such was not the case. Even now in my thirties, I still have breakouts, though nothing nearly as severe as those I suffered in my teens. I’ve since learned how to cleanse my face properly and set up a nice morning regime that keeps the breakouts to their absolute minimum. And, I’ve also since moved on from that awful pancake makeup (though they’ve since improved the design and blemish-friendly ingredients), and I now use a nice light liquid foundation. However, I still like to try other foundations. My skin is so oily and even the foundation that I use which is specifically for oily skin, doesn’t seem to help keep the oil at bay, and I

constantly have to use blotting sheets, and the makeup ends up feeling heavy on my face within a matter of hours, even if it does cover well enough. Since I love avon and have been ordering avon products on a regular basis for the past twenty years, I wanted to start giving their make-up line a try.

The first one I tried was the BEYOND COLOR Line Softening Mousse Foundation. I’ve tried the lipsticks and really loved the results I achieved with them, and had hoped that the foundation would be just as nice for me. It’s around $12, which is what I pay for my other foundation, and looks nice and creamy in the container. I opened it half expecting to see oil gathered at the top until it was mixed, but that wasn’t the case at all. It was creamy through and through from the getgo. I used a little wedge sponge, dabbed it in the makeup and began to apply it on my freshly cleaned face. It was midafternoon, and I’d already applied my make-up that morning, but when I got it in the mail I ...

      • was eager to try it right then and there and not wait until the next morning when I was getting ready for work. This foundation has a lot of moisturizing elements in it, which I worried might not work great with my oily complexion, and might exasperate the problem, even if it was healthy for my skin in the long run. The last thing I needed was a heavier oily look throughout the day to have to deal with. It’s a light to medium coverage and is available in a nude color which is just perfect for my pale complexion. And, now that I’m getting older, the fact that it helps reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles on the face doesn’t hurt either!

The one thing I loved most about the description of this product though, is the fact it says it has a matte finish. I was thrilled by the prospect. I have shiny skin all day and the idea that I might be able to manage that was making me very happy indeed. The foundation is very light and smooth and it went on my

face like silk. I have to say that “light to medium” coverage might be an overstatement, because I didn’t feel it covered existing blemishes very adequately, but it DID even out my skin tone. If you don’t have an issue with blemishes, but want to create a smoother texture and apperance of your coloring, than this would be fantastic for you. Unfortunately, I needed something a little more durable to help cover the blemishes I occassionally get, and this just wasn’t sufficient enough for that. BUT, it did have a matte look once it was applied and was given a few minutes to dry and set in, and the oily was manageable enough thorughout the day, though not completely gone by any stretch of the imagination. The color was good for me and blended nicely. The only real problem I had was with the very light coverage. My blotchiness is a thing of the past with this makeup, but the blemishes are still noticeable. I’d use the product again, though, because it really feels nice on the skin. I save it for those days when I’m blemish free which, thankfully, are more often than not!
