Canon IXUS is a series of digital compact cameras made by Canon. They have been pocket sized all the time, the main difference in size between the older and the newer models is that the newer models are slimmer.

If you wonder about whether you should get a new or a used one, you could go for a

used one if you don’t need all the mega pixels you get with the newer ones.

The newer one also have bigger LCD screens but the optics don’t seem very much better, so you will get nearly as sharp pictures for less money.

I have a Canon IXUS because of the size.

I usually use a digital SLR,

      • but when I just want a small camera that takes better pictures than the average cell phone I take my IXUS.

The colours are actually better then with the SLR, especially blues and reds.

As long as the light it good enough, the pictures are sharp but it can be a bit tricky to get good action shots.

You can take good pictures inside with it, but you should try the flash a few times to get good results.

Make sure you have extra batteries if you take it outside in the winter, when they get cold they stop working! Just put one in your pocket and one in the camera, and you should be fine.
