From 1996, The Angel of Pennsylvania Avenue was a nice little holiday film that portrays itself to be based on a story about Bernice Feagan. I was curious and did some research. It seems that Bernice didn’t even know this movie was made until it was done. No one had the courtesy to tell her about it. I’m not sure where that leaves things as far as rights go, but it seems off to me.

      However, much of The

Angel of Pennsylvania Avenue was fictionalized. They changed so many of the facts that if they hadn’t said it was based on a real even in Bernice’s life, it may have just been conjecture.

Diana Scarwid and Robert Urich starred as the parents in this made-for-TV film. They are Irish immigrants, not that any of them could do a decent Irish accent. Urich is out of work and sets off to get a job. Ultimately, he’s accused of injuring ...

      • a man and is placed in jail. Probably ninety percent of this story is made up, including how it happened and where, but the gist is there, that Bernice’s father was wrongfully put in jail.

Tegan Moss starred as Bernice Feagan and did a nice job. Her work was recognized as being the best of the lot. Bernice and her siblings take off to see the President of the United States and managed to get in to see him, convincing

him to get their father released. Again, it wasn’t as thrilling as seen on TV, but the essence is there.

Scarwid and Urich are accomplished performers and were good, though I didn’t really feel the magic. I got more of a kick out of watching Brittney Irvin sing and play the piano. I know her as being Merrin on Stargate SG-1, so she held my interest.

Overall, this was a pleasant movie. Watch it once and that’ll probably be enough.
