I have used a bewildering range of vacuum cleaners during my life and the latest generation is fairly similar in what it does to those used in the last four decades. It seems surprising that there is so little to be observed in terms of greater efficiency in the new machines. Where they would seem to win out is in the relative weight and, perhaps, manoeuverability of modern models.
I had been hoping for some indication of an improved performance in the model I ‘road-tested’ recently. It is made by a reputable company, Panasonic, who produce all manner of other
electronic machines. This one, the MC-E8023, is characterised by its particular features: a flexible, extendable hose and detachable head; a waste-collecting container which is see-through and a small, wheeled container for the engine.
This vacuum has, apparently, a lot going for it. The hose is fairly standard, it must be admitted, albeit it can be lengthened and the head is detachable. The design is small and can be moved around furniture readily, without damaging it due to sharp edges or heavy, metal manufacture. In that regard, in fact, it is a lightweight, black plastic model with no sharp edges to damage ...
