  • Her boyfriend had the Zune at the time, and she tried to convince me that this was what I needed, but I thought it was too expensive and she certainly didn't need to invest that in my christmas present
  • I like to listen to music while I'm working on jewelry and my other crafts, and this can sometimes carry on for hours, and I find that the battery on the zune drains pretty quickly and after an hour, I had to plug it in and listen to it while it was plugged in
  • When I hit the gym, I liked to go for more than an hour, so this was an issue, since I very well couldn't have it plugged in during that time
  • Her boyfriend still swears by the Zune, and perhaps I just got a rather defunked model, but I don't think it's worth the cost at all

My best friend asked me last year what I wanted for Christmas, and I told her I just wanted a cheap little mp3 player. I had music capabilities on my phone, but hated that I couldn’t use real headphones with the phone, and had to settle for the uncomfortable earbuds. I typically like the all-in-one option of having my phone and mp3 player together, but at the time, this wasn’t much of a possibility since I couldn’t upgrade my phone just yet to something a little more accomodating to my needs, so I wanted a cheap mp3 player to tide me over. Her boyfriend had the Zune at the time, and she tried to convince me that this was what I needed, but I thought it was too expensive and she certainly didn’t need to invest that in my christmas present. I was really only expecting something that was $30, one of those cheap drug-store mp3 players was all I was looking for. But alas, she ended up buying me a Zune anyway,

and I was shocked and pleased she went through the trouble.

I liked the look of the Zune, and it was certainly small enough that it wasn’t going to get in the way while I was walking or hitting the gym, and you could even sync it wirelessly, so there was no need to plug it in to download your music. This was a huge plus to me as well, since we have a laptop, and the usb ports are often being occupied by something else, especially considering that I run a home business and use the laptop for just that purpose (when I’m not writing reviews of course). The audio quality on this product is absolutely fantastic, and I’m thinking about getting a pair of speakers to use with them, because I have a feeling it will sound even better. The headphones that come with it are those uncomfortable earbuds I hate so much, and I haven’t been able to find another set of earphones that will work with it, so i’ve ...

      • had to settle for it, but since it was a gift, I can’t complain too much.

I like to listen to music while I’m working on jewelry and my other crafts, and this can sometimes carry on for hours, and I find that the battery on the zune drains pretty quickly and after an hour, I had to plug it in and listen to it while it was plugged in. When I hit the gym, I liked to go for more than an hour, so this was an issue, since I very well couldn’t have it plugged in during that time. Also, the syncing isn’t very reliable. I’ve had similar problems out of those above-mentioned cheap drug-store mp3 players, but certainly didn’t expect it out of a product of this calliber, so that was a bit of a dissapointment. The software is easy enough to follow, but sometimes it just doesn’t want to sync, or it will sync, but then un-sync in the process of downloading and I’d have to start over

again. I’ve had songs magical erase themselves from the Zune, and I still have no idea how that happened, so there have been a few headaches along the way. Her boyfriend still swears by the Zune, and perhaps I just got a rather defunked model, but I don’t think it’s worth the cost at all. I’ve had Creative Zens which are cheap and work far more reliably than these do. it does have an FM radio, which is a nice touch, because I actually like to listen to a particular show first thing in the morning when I’m on my walks, and this allows me to do that. The only subscription venue is the Zune marketplace, which is spotty at best. I like rather obscure music, and it was impossible to find any of that through this provider, but I made do by downloading my favorite songs onto my harddrive and uploading from there, so problem solved. It would be nice, though, if a subscription to the Zune marketplace came with a little more variety.
