I’m not really very familiar with Plastic Man. I always think that the episodes with him involved are going to be sub-par but they usually turn out to be rather enjoyable.

With villains who have names like Kite-Man and Rubberneck, my expectations were pretty low, but they turned out to be pretty good. I don’t know them from the comics but they worked here.

While Kite-Man wasn’t the most menacing villain

we’ve seen on the show, he served his purpose. Rubberneck was also pretty good, providing some dimwitted comic relief.

This episodes brings the laughs while still not disrespecting the characters. The confrontation in the museum was quite great, how often do you get to see a baby crawling along a catwalk while a small dog swings from a rope hanging by its teeth. The newscast afterwards also made me laugh and it was ...

      • rather well timed.

The final showdown is filled with all sorts of silver age goodness. Kite-man captures Plastic Man’s family and ties them to a giant kite during a thunderstorm, to echo Ben Franklin’s experiment. He also develops a ray that can either turn you to stone or give you elastic abilities. Over the course, both Kite and Batman get the powers and it’s quite the spectacle.

        The second season

seems to be off to a pretty good start and the writers have achieved that fine balance between bona fide superhero adventuring with humor and parody. The writers know how to make each episode fun, and that’s the appeal of it. It may not deliver perfectly distilled adaptations like B:TAS did, but it does show the same love and respect for the characters while giving it to us in a more lighthearted way.
