  • Gracie and Gruff Fine Toys had so many interesting items in the window on display that I decided to go inside just for the fun of it
  • There are toys for all ages, and I would have to say that I think adults might actually have more fun shopping here than kids will
  • I definitely enjoyed talking to the sales person, and he also said that the owner is usually always at the store, as he enjoys having a hands-on relationship with his customers and the merchandise he sells
  • I highly recommend Gracie and Gruff Fine Toys to anyone looking for unique and hard-to-find toys or collectables

I was in a mall in downtown Calgary and I came across a store that looked so unique that I had to go inside. Gracie and Gruff Fine Toys had so many interesting items in the window on display that I decided to go inside just for the fun of it. There are toys for all ages, and I would have to say that I think adults might actually have more fun shopping here than kids will. Of course, there are toy trucks and cars and dolls and stuffed animals, but for me these items pale in comparison to the collections of toys, as well as the high-tech gadgets. Of course, I am always attracted to miniature cars and train

sets, and models of ships and planes, and there is a plethora of great model kits here. The trains are great, and I had fun seeing the display items, and watching the children’s faces as they watched and looked. I had almost as much fun watching some of the adults’ faces as well. The high-tech section will make most grown-up boys excited; there are remote-controlled robots, cars, planes, trucks, animals and anything and everything they make these days in this genre. I started talking to one of the very friendly and helpful store employees, and he told me a bit about this unique, and judging from the people streaming in while I was there, popular store.

One of the sales people ...

      • who I began talking to told me that the owner of the store has sourced toys from all over the world for this store. He also tries to feature local toy and craft artisans as much as possible, and that is evident in some of the displays. There are many limited production toys that can be found here that one will not be able to find at the larger retailers, and I can attest to the fact that I saw many toys that were popular in other generations here. Collectors will love this store, and I have my eyes on some Star Wars items for a friend who is a collector. Another very unique and wonderful service is that the
staff will find and then custom order anything that is not available at the store, and given the owner’s many connections all over the world, he can usually find it. I definitely enjoyed talking to the sales person, and he also said that the owner is usually always at the store, as he enjoys having a hands-on relationship with his customers and the merchandise he sells. I made a point to tell some of my friends and acquaintances who collect various things to check out this store.

I highly recommend Gracie and Gruff Fine Toys to anyone looking for unique and hard-to-find toys or collectables. The selection is great and the customer service is outstanding. Even grown-up kids will like checking out the great items here.
