Son of Rosemary (written by Ira Levin)

The story simply astounded – not that it is good. It is not – the beginning was sickly sweet, which became rather trashy due to the sexual undercurrents between the mother and son. Apparently Rosemary’s Baby was much better. The Son of Rosemary should never have been written – in

      fact, it was a letdown.

Rosemary woke up after a thirty-year coma, to find that her son, Andy had now become a world-famous icon. He was now the much admired and beloved leader of a world wide movement called God’s Children (GC). Rosemary was reunited with her son, and prepared herself for a new life of wealth and status.

There were certain parts in the story that I had a glimpse of the author’s signature creativity and ingenuity; however the rest of

the book seemed like a cheap horror imitation. The ending was flat, bland, anti-climatic! Rather disappointing to me, as I have had read Ira Levin’s other books which had been enlightening and well ahead of the times. This book is really not classic Ira Levin – made me wonder if it is the work of a copycat writer!
