Skills Like This is an independent film about a depressed and discouraged man named Max. He is trying to pursue his dream job of being a writer, but he feels he is not getting anywhere with his writing. He feels that he is in a rut because of he is losing hope in his career.

Various scenes in the beginning of the movie lead him to the realization that the only job he can do better than writing is robbing a bank. As crazy as it sounds, he tries to rationalize his decision to rob a bank in order to

      make it seem legitimate.

During the first time that he robs a bank, he gets an exhilarated euphoria rush out of this experience that it looks like he is instantly cured of his depression and hopelessness. Due to such feelings, he continues with his new venture, even though his picture is posted everywhere as a wanted bank robber.

He feels that he finally got out of his rut. He justifies his actions with a plan that seems reasonable, but actually it is crazy.

In the process, he ends up falling in love with a girl who works in ...

      • the bank. Things seem to be going great for him.

        But, is it?

Tragedy occurs, and Max begins to lose interest in his new venture. He goes back to his hopeless and depressed state, and wonders why he can’t seem to do anything right.

He decides to turn himself in. But everyone around him discourage him from turning himself in.

He tries to make amends by returning what he stole from the bank as well as apologizing to all the employees in the bank. He also proposes his love to the teller in the bank because

he doesn’t want to lose her.

She brought a meaning to his life, and he feels that she is what he really needs. The employees in the bank all like him, and they encourage him to run before the cops arrive.

As he hears the police sirens coming closer, he finally decides to make a run for it, and the teller follows him out the door. Max, the female teller and his male friend drive off on a long and endless road toward the horizon and their future.

I thought it was an interesting adventure, although crazy, risky and unrealistic.
