  • I remember the days of having a small tv that had the vcr installed in the tv, and when we had it, we ran into a problem with the vcr not working only a year into our ownership of it
  • But it's an LCD screen, which is nice, because my husband has issues with glare on the older screens, and simply refuses to even consider a television that isn't an LCD at this point
  • The size isn't an issue for us either, since we really needed a small unit for our bedroom
  • My husband would still prefer something larger, but I think I'm getting through to him that, for the time being, this is the perfect size

I remember the days of having a small tv that had the vcr installed in the tv, and when we had it, we ran into a problem with the vcr not working only a year into our ownership of it. That’s not to say we didn’t enjoy the tv, and the tv itself last many years after the vcr gave out, but because it had a built in unit, we could never install an exterior vcr to it, and therefore, it was only good as a television and we weren’t able to watch tapes on it. So, I was a little put-off when, for Christmas last year, my father-in-law gave my husband and I this 15 inch television that had a built in DVD player. I have to say, however, that the television is a nice unit, and it doesn’t have a bulky DVD player installed at the bottom like the vcr units used to be. Instead you put in the DVD

vertically on the side of the television. And, it’s a pretty expensive television from what I understand too. I did a search on it online, to read some reviews and see if perhaps there would be a problem with the DVD player later on, and found out it’s about $250, and that’s if you find a good deal on it. I was surprised it was that expensive, given that it’s only a 15 inch screen.

But it’s an LCD screen, which is nice, because my husband has issues with glare on the older screens, and simply refuses to even consider a television that isn’t an LCD at this point. And we’ve owned toshibas in the past, and they’ve been reliable units, but I was still concerned about the built-in DVD player. The controls are also nice on it as well. The older versions with the vcr required a remote to use the vcr, but this one has controls on the side of ...

      • the television to operate the DVD player, so, worse case scenario, of the remote fails you, you still have a way to play videos.

It comes with a stand, but its bothersome at times because it can’t be adusted for height or position. You just have to move the entire television if you want to move it, verses swiveling it on the stand. Also, when changing channels, there’s a bit of a lag. At first we thought it was comcast, but our other televisions in the house work quite quickly. The size isn’t an issue for us either, since we really needed a small unit for our bedroom. We have a two bedroom condo, and the large bedroom is reserved for our teenage boys who have to share, and they needed more space, and in our bedroom there’s literally only enough room for a very small three drawer dresser and a bed, and we needed a television that would fit safely on

the dresser top. So, in this instance, the built-in DVD player is nice, because we don’t have to find room to lay an external DVD player, and wouldn’t have the room since the dresser top is rather small.

You cant mount this tv to the wall, which is a downside, but still, it’s a nice unit and, we’ve been using it for a year and so far so good. The DVD player still works perfectly and we haven’t encountered any issues with discs skipping or not functioning exactly as they’re supposed to. I’m really surprised that I’m enjoying the tv as much as I am, and I’m thankful my father-in-law was so generous in finding us a very reliable unit. My husband would still prefer something larger, but I think I’m getting through to him that, for the time being, this is the perfect size. The resolution is high so the images are clean and crisp. It really is perfect for our needs.
