I picked up the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine as a movie that I figured would be halfway entertaining but would lack when compared to other X-Men films. It turns out it was one of the better movies I’ve seen.

Hugh Jackman is great as Wolverine, a mutant with the ability to heal quickly (and

not age) and have blades come out of his arms to use in a fight.

Unlike other X-men movies, we get to learn a bit more about this character and learn he has much more depth to him in terms of emotion; especially when it comes to his lover (who is apparently murdered early ...

      • on) and his brother, who has similar powers but is easily persuaded to be more evil.

In addition to his character, we learn a little more about the origins of the X-men in general, seeing how mutants were experimented on and hunted down prior to Professor X showing up to help them.

        That part

        was also kind of cool.

There’s plenty of action and suspense in this movie and quite a few plot twists to show it was well written rather than relying just on special effects.

Even if you don’t read comic strips and didn’t like the X-men movies, I think this is a film that is worth giving a chance.
