I was reflecting on the perfumes I used for the year 2008 and I can’t keep myself from loving Les Exclusifs de Chanel Beige. I remember when I bought at it Saks Fifth Avenue in New York during my holiday shopping spree last year. Aside from cosmetics and shoes, perfume is one of those things I always treasure every year. It seems I can’t keep myself satisfied from one scent. I am always imbued with great interest whenever I discover new scent every year. This scent was part of the collection known as “Les Exclusifs”which in English means “The Exclusives by Chanel”. There were several fragrance in this category.

The appearance of the bottle is similar to Marc Jacobs scents, simple and no other complicated effects. It was transparent and the liquid was colored like the name, beige. I have some objections about the packaging of this scent. Given that this came out later than Marc Jacobs, they should

have at least changed the entire appearance. There is nothing that would separate this from Marc Jacob’s perfume except the name. It is the same replica and if you look at it from afar, you will mistook it as Marc Jacobs. Chanel always has authority in things like this but I find it boring. If somebody came out of an idea earlier, make sure your later version is something outstanding. I always believe that packaging of a perfume is one of its key elements in marketing. I am a fan of minimalism but this was indistinguishable. The packaging was awful and certainly not memorable. I don’t care if this was “The Exclusives” from Chanel, the appearance is clearly a familiar territory earlier conceived but yet still crudely traversed. Can they not think of anything else? This was the part that I did not get about this perfume.

Despite the frustration I had with the appearance, I really like the ...

      • scent. The early spray would give you soft floral scent particularly freesia. Then I am a huge fan of the smell of frangipani and I was glad that this dominates the heart much. Then dry down was soft, mellow and sweet with hawthorn and honey. This perfume is floral and a very memorable and delightful floral scent. The thing I like about this perfume is the signature ability of every Chanel fragrance to always make a prominent introduction during the first spray even if the scent is so light and floral. It seems you will surely love it. I have experienced the same with Allure and it was very common to begin with but the stir is exceptional. It would make something ordinary turn into extraordinary. The early hints of freesia was too common and very light but something memorable. Then I also like the supporting effect of honey in this perfume because it gives it a sweet
smell which is also light and not too much to bear. Simple yet sophisticated this is how I describe it. The scent of frangipani is really beautiful, there is something about its floral scent which perfectly describes sensuality. The reason why I like this perfume is because of its individuality in terms of scent, this is contrary to its appearance. What could have been a grim or depressing floral combination was transformed into a richly conceived concoction which is beautifully authentic. It seems there are two notes which for me is truly outstanding in this perfume. Honey and frangipani. The intensity of the floral spirit of frangipani was well moderated by honey. It was rich and natural. I would say this is ideal for summer too being so light on the skin and mild in terms of its scent. As to longevity, most of the Chanel perfumes lasts up to 12 hours in my experience, this is one of those.
