Gulf World Marine Park 15412 Front Beach Road Panama City Beach, Florida 32413
  • Gulf World seems a little pricey (adults $24, kids $15), but I think you get your money's worth
  • There's a stingray petting pool (an interactive experience) and shark-feeding demonstrations, as well as performing sea lions, otters, and bottle-nosed dolphins to hold your interest
  • Everything is under roofing and overhangs so it can be enjoyed when other outdoor activities are out of the question
  • But, I definitely recommend it to any animal lovers who want to see something a little unusual

I often travel to Panama City Beach, Florida to vacation and visit relatives there. Gulf World Marine Park is an attraction I find myself visiting over and over, especially with the kids. It’s a great diversion from the usual beach activities and they add new attractions every year. This year it was the magic show and the high dive show.

Gulf World seems a little pricey (adults $24, kids $15), but I think you get your money’s worth. A lot of hotels and the Chamber of Commerce offer discount coupons from time to time if you look around. The last time that we went, the admission

included free tickets, with no expiration, for the evening laser show. In fact, we used them the next day after dinner.

Along with the shows, exhibits at the park include a tropical garden with lots of alligators, penguins, a tropical bird aviary and a good collection of reptiles. My favorites were the parrots that played basketball and rode little cycles. The shows rotate in about a 3 hour cycle, so you can catch one later if you miss it or want to see it again. They even have an evening variety show with singing, dancing, and comedy.

It’s certainly not Sea World, but with all the exhibits,

      • the park is still a big hit with the kids and adults alike. There’s a stingray petting pool (an interactive experience) and shark-feeding demonstrations, as well as performing sea lions, otters, and bottle-nosed dolphins to hold your interest. They have a ton (literally) of dolphins. Unlike some parks of this kind, you get very close to these animals.

We often go on a rainy day. Everything is under roofing and overhangs so it can be enjoyed when other outdoor activities are out of the question. It’s a great alternative during the occasional bad weather in Panama City. I’ll also note that the park seems to always be

        very clean.

The heavy focus on education in the shows might seem to be a downside for some people. However, my family doesn’t mind and I realize that most of the staff live and breathe marine life. Gulf World Marine Park is a great place to learn about marine conservation, if you’re so inclined.

Gulf World is a great place, but nothing to plan an entire vacation around. It’s probably a 5 or 6 hour excursion for most people. But, I definitely recommend it to any animal lovers who want to see something a little unusual.
