I have to start this review by saying I do not like this mat. I think it is gaudy and ugly but babies really love this. I have sucked it up and put this in my living room, but I really wish it looked a lot more sedate. I have owned both this and the tiny love gymini mat and while I prefer the gymini look and style, all the babies I know much prefer the rainforest mat.

For the money this is an awesome mat. If you can’t afford the $60 this costs try to find it used. Even the $40 ones are not as sturdy or fun as this one. I have both the tiny love gymini mat and this rainforest mat and the rainforest one is good for a lot more entertainment. A

baby will stay on this for hours because there is always something to do and see/ This mat can be used from birth up. It has a padded mat you can set newborns on to have them look at the toy. If you have hard woods you may want to set an additional blanket under this for comfort, but on carpet this mat is all you need to keep your baby comfortable. I never had any problem with the mat part, I think it is very comfy. I did use it in the kitchen a few times and put a blanket under it then, but I think it is meant for carpet mostly.

With this mat you get several toys you can move around to attach either above or below to go with your baby’s development.

      • You get a monkey, a toucan, and elephant and a parrot. There are butterflys that flap and a leaf that makes a crinkle sound. Babies really enjoy this. At play groups we have set four kids on it and they all went crazy playing. I do recommend this toy to anyone. It costs around $60 but you will get your money’s worth out of it.

This mat does not fold up like the tiny love mat which is a big drawback. Eventhough the tiny love mat is still large when folded, I liked to put it in my closet for storage and you cannot do this with this one so you will have it set up all the time. You can fold this, but you need to do a little more work than

I want to when moving toys. It is very light and you will not mind carrying it from room to room to put it away.

This mat has three different modes of play: In the first mode, your baby’s movements set off eight to 12 second burst of light and movement.

The second mode plays music for 20 minutes of continuous play.

The third mode plays rainforest sounds which the babies all seem to love.

The entire unit weighs only four pounds and is easy to carry around.

The pros of this: runs on normal c batteries.

does not go through batteries too quickly.

        machine washable.

can be used from birth to 6 mos.

        very entertaining for babies.

still lots of fun without the batteries if it bothers you.

the music is not as annoying as other toys.

very sturdy and hard for baby to pull down.

the cons of this mat: you can’t travel with it.

expensive needs to be partially taken apart to store.
