The super yard xt is a giant plastic play yard. It is made up of six plastic panels which connect to form different shapes. If you want it to be a play yard you get 18 feet of play space in a hexagonal shape. When put together it weights around 20 lbs but it is such an odd shape you would not carry it together unless you have put it away and strapped it together.

We did not buy this play yard when our first baby was born. We ended up buying it at christmas as a strategy to keep our baby from pulling the christmas tree down on herself. We put this around our tree and she could not reach it. Now that she is older we are using it not as a play yard but

as a barrier in our basement.

The way you put this together is to snap pieces together. It says in the manual that it is simple and quick and it is once you get the hang of it, but the first few times you will feel as though you are breaking it and it will take some time to get the desired shape. Now that I have owned mine over a year I can make any shape and take it down or set it up in minutes.

In order to have the full strength of this product you are supposed to make a hexagonal shape for a play yard. If you make it into a square babies can push the sides around and knock it down. I have no idea why this is, but the directions tell ...

      • you not to do it. I much prefer a square yard and tried it and it was very unsteady. You can buy additional panels for this yard to make it larger but they will not make it more sturdy.

This yard does have its uses. It is large enough that we put our baby in it in our yard when we were outside. There is no way she would have stayed in a normal pack and play that long as it is much smaller. This yard is all plastic so it is easy to clean. You can make a funny shape as we did for our christmas tree and as we now have ours doing to keep kids away from something, but as it does not bolt to the wall they can move it around.

        The pros of

        this yard:

        easy to clean.

you can make more than one shape from this yard.

comes with a strap to hold it together for storage.

all plastic. it will not rip like mesh or stain at all.

The cons of this yard: kids can move it around easily.

cannot be made into a square.

will not fit easily in a trunk for travel.

takes up more space when put away than a standard pack and play.

Does not have a swinging door, you need to lift kids up and down.

        looks like a dog kennel.

I do recommend this yard or one like it for parents who need a larger play yard. It is not a must have, but it is handy to have. This one has a lot of flaws and there are others on the market that are better, but for the money I have gotten a lot of use out of mine and would buy it again.
