When I began my search for a natural, non-toxic cleaner for my home, Method was the first brand I turned to. I had started reading about how the harmful chemicals in traditional cleaners like Pine-Sol and Mr. Clean were damaging to our environment, poisoning the oceans and leaving toxic residue on surfaces that could slowly build up in my body. I was ready for a change, and I favored the Method brand because of their cute packaging, appealing scents, and the fact that they were readily available in stores in my

      area.

I chose the Method Multi-Surface Cleaner in the French Lavender scent. The spray-top bottle was a big plus for me, because it meant that I wouldn’t have to transfer a liquid cleaner into a separate plastic bottle. The French Lavender scent was faint, and not overwhelming. And I liked the bottle design…the bottle has a large square bottom, giving the bottle stability, and making it easy to carry around the house.

Because this cleaner is non-toxic and didn’t emit fumes, I felt safe using it everywhere: in the shower, the bathtub,

      • my kitchen sink and countertops, and even on my kitchen and bathroom floors. I even used it to clean my kitchen stove and other appliances. But I noticed that it didn’t cut grease very well. This was especially apparent in the bathtub–water would still bead up on the porcelain, indicating that the surface was not entirely clean. I also had a harder time mopping my kitchen floor; I had to “scrub” spots with the mop, and sometimes I’d have to get down on the floor and actually scrub tough stains with
a sponge. In time, I became less satisfied with the Method Multi-Surface Cleaner, because it simply didn’t clean tough jobs very well.

Fortunately, I found Mrs. Meyers All-Purpose Cleaner, which cleans just as well as the more traditional household cleaners. The Mrs. Meyers cleaners also smell better, and they cost less. So I doubt I will ever use the Method cleaner again. It works okay for small jobs like wiping down a countertop, but I prefer to use a single cleaner for all of my household jobs, and the Method product isn’t strong enough.
