I like to get my hands dirty, and play in the rain and mud with my kids and roll around with my dogs and roughhouse and climb trees (though I’m older now and I’m afraid I’ll dislocate a hip at this point!), but despite all this and my sort of tomboy upbrining, I’m still a girlie girl at heart, and like pretty things and smelling pretty and all those fancy lotions with every scent imaginable. With that said, I still have a rather negative reaction to certain smells.. mostly floral. I can stand food type smells, such as chocolate or vanilla or pumpkin spice, and even oranges and that kind of thing, but you get into the floral smells, I have a problem and it gives me headaches. So, when I went to visit a friend for a week in Vegas, she assured me she’d have all sorts of bath goodies for me to try out, because she’s a girlie-girl too, probably more-so than me. I didn’t have to pack a single toiletry with me,

because I knew she’d have it taken care of. And I wasn’t disappointed, because I had a whole collection of things to chose from and pamper myself with.

I was happy to relax in her huge bathtub and try it all out. One of the things she had was the Alba Botanical Moisturizing shave cream, with a mango vanilla scent. Wasn’t sure how nice the combination of fruit and vanilla would be, but I have to say it works. It was subtle and pleasant. All too often something will smell great in the bottle, but when you put it on, it’s just too over-powering. Not the case with this at all. You lather on the shaving cream, and it’s a very relaxing and calming scent that gradually washes over you, and I did notice that the scent stayed with me, but was still subtle, for at least two or three hours after the bath, which is almost unheard of with shaving cream. I might has well have been using an after-bath lotion, because it felt ...

      • great. And I have a habit of consistently knicking myself with the razor, because I just can’t afford the $20 blades i”m used to using and have to resort to the disposable kinds on occassion. And though my friend only had disposable razors, I was pleased to discover that the shaving cream, and how moisturizing it was, really helped alleviate any problems I’d have normally experienced with knicking myself.

I did learn something quickly, though. You don’t need a lot of this stuff at all. I’m used to the foaming shaving cream my husband uses, and you feel like you have to spray a handful of stuff to sufficiently cover a leg, but with this lotion, you literally only have to use a quarter-sized amount. If you use to much, it seems to clog up in the razor and you’re constantly having to rinse the blade before you even do one entire sweep up the leg. But, once I got the hang on the amount of stuff to apply, everything went smoothly after that. I

also have pretty sensitive skin, and get the notorious shaving bumps when I shave, but this just about nipped that problem in the bud. It was so wonderfully moisturizing, that my legs felt and looked so smooth afterwards. I’ll definitely be buying this product for myself instead of just relying on my friend to pamper me. Just be sure to follow the directions carefully and apply a very thin layer, otherwise you’ll have some complications. Also, because the smell was so subtle, I didn’t experience any headaches that I normally get when things are too “girly smelly”. I could even still smell the shaving cream an hour after I left the bathroom, but being in the bathroom with that scent wasn’t irritating at all and was, in fact, entirely pleasant. I wish they’d bottle this stuff in candle form, and I’d have a stock of them all throughout my house. Wonderful investment that I highly recommend if you appreciate smooth legs and a fresh scent. May not work well on coarse stubble, but worked well on my legs.
