I saw The Currency at there first gig at the northcote social club and was given a complimentary 3 song single upon entry and have never been disappointed with this great band. The Currency are a Melbourne Punk band who are also described as convict-core and folk. They consist of an

ex Living end drummer, guitar, mandolin, tin whistle, bass, accordion, violinist and vocalist make up the group.

      • CD was launched in 2009 and my favourite song is Victoria Rose which is about a bloke who just got out of prison and hasn’t seen his little girl for years. The accordion is the main instrument being played here and has catchy lyrics and feeling to it.

        888 is

a song about the monument in Melbourne and about the working week and drinking your day away and what will our ancestor’s think about this.

This band will appeal to people who appreciate good musicianship like it fast and melodic and delivered like no other band can this is The Currency.
