For a while, my wife and I were talking about taking a week off and buying season passes to the Dodge County Fair this year. We’re glad we didn’t.

Overall, getting into the fair is a decent value ($9/person, which includes parking and the show)

but, once you get inside, you realize that you can’t possibly spend more than one day there and enjoy yourself.

The fair usually has decent bands, but most of them are country groups so, if you don’t listen to country, you’re probably not going to ...

      • want to come every day.

The food and games are also good, but expensive.

In 3 hours, we spend $30.

To take our daughter on the merry-go-round, it cost $4.

25 each time since she’s only 2 and they required the adult accompanying her to buy

        a ticket too.

The only free thing, besides the animal exhibits, is the vendor booths and even that was a disappointment.

There were less businesses showing this year and less free samples being handed out.

Overall, it’s a good family event, just not good enough to warrant more than one evening.
