      Moulan Rouge is the kind of movie that people either really love or really hate. It is a musical but contains no original music. Normally I would think this was a weakness, but the theme of the movie is a nightclub that caters to a generation of young people in

      Paris. So it seems fitting that the contemporary music of the day is used. Also, many of the songs (like Roxanne) have different arrangements that make them unique.

      Perhaps “nightclub” is not the right word for Moulan Rouge, the club/brothel/theater that young Christian (played by a very hot Ewan McGregor) becomes enthralled with. Helmed by the bigger-than-life Mr. Zieglar, Moulan Rouge has a group of young prostitutes and performers called the Diamond Dogs.
