  • Turning is a real trying experience because it seems no matter how quick my reflexes are, the game never registers my commands in time and the result is me hardly ever finishing in the top four or even five

Offroad Extreme! Special Edition (Nintendo Wii) is a game that should have been left on the side of the road somewhere rather than being delivered to stores. It is a game that offers graphics that were seen in 1996 or 1997 on the Playstation or Nintendo 64 console - actually, both consoles at the time were capable and proved that they could put out games that looked better than this.

I have to wonder just how little time and effort the developers

actually put toward designing the vehicle models, landscapes and backgrounds, because none of the aforementioned things has much detail at all and is rough rather than smooth and displayed in very low resolution.

Yet somehow, despite the game not sporting brilliant effects or sharp visuals, the game still plays slow and is choppy at times because the framerate is so poor.

There is not any trace of intensity or challenge to be found in this racing game and that is really quite ...

      • an accomplishment on the part of the developers.

The animations are very sloppy as I play through the tracks, with nothing looking very realistic because the cars are not animated well, neither are the explosions or the way in which the cars turn and move.

It all looks very cheap and fails all together to immerse one in the game.

Not only that, but the controls are incredibly bad.

Turning is a real trying experience because it seems no matter how quick

my reflexes are, the game never registers my commands in time and the result is me hardly ever finishing in the top four or even five.

As a racing game, this game fails on so many levels.

While the tracks themselves are not really that bad and at times imaginative, it is practically impossible to enjoy them because the visuals are so ugly and the controls so poor that any enjoyment that I might have had gets derailed beforehand.

        Avoid this racer completely.
