This begins the next multipart saga since the pilot. It’s fitting as this ties into the events of the pilot.

This episode gives us a glimpse into what Demona was up to while the other gargoyles were frozen. The events remain consistent with what happened in the pilot and expand upon it.

Xanatos, as expected, is hatching another scheme but Demona plays even them to enact her own plot for revenge.

      The gargoyles

take a backseat here. A lot of the episode is a flashback, showing us Macbeth and the other kings. Demona starts to show her age and manages to find herself another clan. We also get introduced to a myriad of other characters who will, no doubt, play a larger part in the story as well as the series as a whole.

This episode was really good. It’s plot remains ...

      • intricate and there are several threads that remain open. The cliffhanger was effective even though it was predictable given the title of the episode.

Marina Sirtis was spot on. Her voice acting has been solid in most of her appearances, but here she really has a chance to shine. It was interesting to see that she still had some concern for human life, even after she had turned

her back on them. It shows that she is a multi-layered three dimensional villain and her characterization is top notch. Even several episodes into the series, this show continues to blow me away. I’ve said this show is a gem before, and I’ll say it again. It’s tragic that they don’t make them like this anymore. I’m eager to see what happens in the remaining three parts.
