Open Season is an animated film that is good for both children and adults. The story revolves around an unlikely pair of friends- Boog, a 900 pound grizzly bear who has been a pet his whole life, and Eliot, a scrawny, one-horned fast-talking mule deer.

Boog meets Eliot when Eliot is a prisoner of a mullet-wearing hunter who has him tied to the hood of his car.

hunter had hit Eliot with his truck, causing one of his oversized antlers to fall off.

The goofy looking deer was only stunned, however, and Boog releases him before he can be turned into venison.

Then Boog goes back to his home with Beth, a sweet forest ranger and his owner.

When Eliot shows up in the middle of the night and he and Boog go on an adventure ...

      • which includes breaking into a grocery store, Beth must face the reality that her beloved pet needs to be returned to the wild.

After a series of misadventures, Boog and Eliot wind up stranded in the woods with hunting season fast approaching.

They manage to befriend other forest animals and the animals, together, try to repel the hunters by going on the offensive, and fighting back.

        The movie

is really hilarious, and it was an oddball, offbeat type of humor that I loved.

You either ‘get’ this kind of humor or you don’t.

        I enjoyed the movie immensely.

Fighting Irish squirrels slinging acorns and a German wiener dog trying to escape his polyester pant suited owner add character to the movie.

I have to say that I enjoyed this quirky, off beat movie from beginning to end.
