The first episode of the second series of Beast Wars is technically the fourth part in a six parter. This episode picks up directly where the second part of “Other Voices” left off and deals with the aftermath of that episode’s events. First of all, it is obvious that with the start of this season, the show received an increase in budget.
Everything from the character models to the landscape to the Maximal base look great.
That is not to say that the previous season was one that was full
of low resolution and lightly detailed CGI, but compared to season two, there is a definite improvement. Second of all, I do not like that five minutes in to this episode, that two prominent characters are just suddenly killed off, and are given no mention whatsoever afterward.
Their deaths are barely shown and then they are gone.
I thought this was awful lazy of the writers and that they did a disservice to fans of those characters.
It is almost as lazy and disgraceful as the massive
killing of characters ...
