Larry’s on form here in this first season episode as he yet again quarrels with Lewis, insults a black doctor in an attempt to be “affable” and is labelled a bon-a-fide racist by a would be employee.

After losing Cheryl’s prescription for a much needed dermatological remedy; Larry is forced into a series of situations in an

attempt to fix the situation. First, he sorts through an overflowing garbage bin in search of the missing scrip, then is forced to apologize for (and explain his “affable” joke) in a room full of a black doctor’s black friends, before a disgruntled one time interviewee publically brands him a racist. Finally, after Cheryl bites the bullet ...

      • and bothers her off hours doctor, Larry ruins things once again by attempting to bribe an overworked pharmacist into letting him jump the line.

This is a strong episode. Quintessential Curb Your Enthusiasm subjects are brought into play as Larry makes a mother of a misjudgement with Lewis’ doctor friend. Meanwhile, Larry’s ongoing feud with his friend’s

new beau continues to boil away and we continue to sympathise with the put upon Cheryl as Larry continues to offend, embarrass and enrage.

One of the first episodes to really factor in the topic of race, and one that does it perfectly in humiliating Larry over and over again. Plenty to enjoy here and highly recommended.
