Artist: Beyonce Video: “Ego” Album: I Am… Sasha Fierce Label: Columbia Director: Frank Jr. Gatson and Beyonce Knowles

What is it with Beyonce and her two female back-up dancers? Are they having lesbian threesomes? Is Jay-Z even included in any of the action? After having the both of them in three to four videos now, one has to ask such questions. “Ego” is the fifth single and music video (following “If I Were A Boy”, “Single Ladies - Put a Ring On It”, “Diva”, and “Halo”)

from her third album titled “I Am…Sasha Fierce”.

Beyonce returns to her favorite black and white music video fixations after the previous color outing, “Halo”. This is basically like “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)”, same two dancers, one background setting, except this time there’s a chair included, different leotards (silver this time around), and everything is glossy and black. Beyonce also sports a curly afro style this time around (not as 70s-ish as “Work It Out”, mind you).

Well, Beyonce is at it again ...

      • with her miseducating lyrics and simply wrongful messages to young women: “He got a big ego, it won’t fit, it’s too big, it’s wide…” Yeah, okay… According to Beyonce, the song is about a man who is very confident - Whatever, what kind of morons does she think we all are? You think by using the lyrical symbolism of a person’s genitals to describe the person’s “ego” is going to fool anybody? Give me a break. This is the kind of crap that should be
on BET After Dark or something, right next to “Tip Drill”.

It’s really hard to believe that our society falls victim to songs like this and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)”, I bet the people who love this stuff will believe anything Beyonce tells them. Well, if Beyonce made a song called “The Cream of Sum-Yung-Gui” and tried to convince me it was about an Asian person she’s in love with, I would borrow the hand of the nearest woman to me and use it to slap Beyonce across the face.
