1900 Heritage Dr. SW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
  • My favourite part of the park is the Haskayne Mercantile block, which takes you back in time to the 1930s and 40s, with stores and shops that are exactly as they were back then

Calgary’s 127 acre Heritage Park has something for everyone, and you will be sure to find something to see or do here. It is located on the Glenmore Reservoir, which has many activities taking place on and around it all year round, such as sailing, kayaking and fishing, and there is a 17 km biking/running/hiking trail around it, so the activities are endless. The part of the reservoir where Heritage Park is located has barbecue pits and picnic areas, a view of the Rockies in the

background, and the ever popular paddle wheeler which cruises around the water. There is a railroad with a steam train, wagon rides, a re-enactment of a heritage village complete with actors dressed in the clothing of the time, the Gasoline Alley Museum, a petting zoo, and many other seasonal activities.

There is a fine dining restaurant, (make reservations) that also has a popular Sunday brunch, at the Selkirke Grill, as well as a casual bistro near the railway station called the Railway Café. My favourite part of ...

      • the park is the Haskayne Mercantile block, which takes you back in time to the 1930s and 40s, with stores and shops that are exactly as they were back then. There is also a brewery that takes visitors on a virtual tour of the province’s beer making history and techniques. The paddle wheeler tour of the reservoir is scenic, and at certain points in the mini-cruise, the Rockies come into view for some gorgeous pictures. There are various displays, exhibits and events, like the fall fair
and the summer solstice festivals, so it is best to check out the weekly events. I would suggest going early on summer weekends, as it gets busy and there can be a long wait for a ride on the paddle wheeler, but Heritage Park is fun for people of all ages.

Rates: Summer: Adults $20, children $15, seniors $16 Winter: (Museum only) Adults $9.50, children $4.50, seniors $7.50 Annual passes and group rates are available.

Hours: Gasoline Alley Museum: Daily, all year around 9:30am-5pm Heritage Park Historical Village: May-September 10am-5pm, weekends only starting Sept. 12-Oct. 12
